The classes are based on the sacramental guidelines of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, which includes Scripture, prayer, service, and community. Emphasis on the Holy Spirit and the Candidate's responsibility as a recognized "adult of the Church" will be stressed throughout the year in preparation of Confirmation. Candidates will see videos from Ascension Press' Chosen series, listen to lectures, and participate in group discussions. Sponsors are welcomed and encouraged to come to any or all of the classes and participate in the discussions during class.
Candidates are expected to attend all classes, activities, and retreats provided for the preparation of Confirmation. The Sponsor is invited to attend any or all of the classes. The Candidate and Sponsor are expected to attend the Holy Name/Confirmation Class Mass in October, as well as the Confirmation Mass.
SERVICE PROJECTS
Service requirements consist of experiences with the motivation of Jesus' love for one another. It is also our love for God and for one another put into action. The question of "hours or "does this count?" are eliminated. Each candidate is asked to complete three service projects. The amount of time a Candidate should spend on any service project should be minimally one (1) hour (more is laudable). (One service project, The Giving Tree, is mandatory and takes place during Advent.)
The other two service projects are the Candidate's choice. The Candidate may utilize any service project completed during summer and/or his/her current school year to fulfill this requirement.
Each candidate is required to perform liturgical service by assisting in Mass throughout the year. Click here for more information.
RETREAT
Each Candidate is required to attend the Day of Reflection. This date should have a priority as it affords each Candidate one day to spend in reflection and prayer in preparation for Confirmation. It is a special time to take a breath and focus on priorities that affect all Candidates.
