First Communion

First Communion instruction ordinarily takes place when a Catholic is in the second grade.

Both St. John's day school and the religious education program prepare second graders for their First Holy Eucharist.

If your child is older than the second grade, they would be placed in their respective grade level and be given extra (but not burdensome) education in preparation for the Sacrament.

First Communion

The First Communicants will be seated in the first few pews of the church. The family of each child will be guaranteed one full pew for the First Communion Mass. In order for pew assignments to be fair, there will be a “lottery” held at rehearsal. A parent must be present in order to take part. Parents who do not attend the lottery will be assigned the last pews.

First Communion Mass begins at 10:30 a.m. Individual pictures will be taken in the church hall before Mass, beginning at 9 a.m. A group picture will be taken in front of the altar at the end of Mass.
