Students who are sixteen years old and a junior in high school are eligible to
participate in St. John's Confirmation Program.
Since students this age are mature enough to make their own decision about
receiving this sacrament, the students are responsible for their own work,
independent of their parents. However, parents are encouraged to support their
child and be present through the preparation process.
Preparation begins in the Candidate's freshman year of high school and continues
until the beginning of 11th Grade. Students, during their Confirmation
Preparation will firm up their knowledge of the Creed, the Sacraments, plus
learn the art of apologetics (to defend one's faith).
It is expected that all students wishing to receive the Sacrament of
Confirmation will have two years of preparation either through a Catholic High
School, Parish Religious Education Program, or verified Home School Program.
Students who lack this background, may be referred to attend one of the offered
classes or participate in a Make-Up Curriculum Course offered by the Religious
Ed Program.
