RCIA

RCIA stands for "Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults." It is a program designed to catechize and encourage adult men and women who are interested in receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and/or first Communion at the Easter Vigil. It is also the program that initiates non-Catholic Christians into full communion with the holy Catholic Church.

RCIC stands for "Rite of Christian Initiation of Children" and is similar to RCIA except it prepares children between the ages of 8 and 18 for the Sacrament of Baptism, Confirmation, and first Eucharist on the Easter Vigil. (Children that were baptized as infants are expected to go through religious education's ordinary sacramental preparation.)

St. John's has an impressive RCIA team who are experienced with Christian initiation in a gentle, patient, and non-combative way.

If you are an adult who needs any or all of the Sacraments of Initiation, an adult who wishes to become Catholic, or if you're simply interested in a catechetical "refresher lesson", please contact parish office at 414-321-1965.
